How does the Serrano 87 achieve such closeness to a genuine vintage 87?

Our capsule is able to provide the sweet "magic" sound of a genuine K87 that is missing in other replicas. Additionally, our circuit follows 100% the schematic of the vintage 87. The electronic values of individual components are likewise adjusted in order to achieve its tone and frequency response.

How did you decide on your capsule?

 

This was a long process. We tested many capsules, not only ones already available capsules offered in other 87 replicas, but we worked with a number of capsule designers and had several custom made for us. Through diligent effort we have the best sounding capsule we've ever heard. Its sound quality stood out strongly after being placed side by side with others that we tested.

Can you elaborate on the Serrano 87 being "assembled in the USA"?

Our capsule, circuit and transformer are all made in the U.S.A. So in other words, all the electronics, which make up of the "soul" of the microphone are made in the U.S.A. Furthermore, each Serrano 87 is built by hand in the U.S.A. Our beautiful, high-quality, and heavy-duty brass bodies are made in Shanghai, China. This was our favorite microphone body for the Serrano 87.
